From the episode, "Hunger Pains", Knuckles knocks the stuff out of Mama Robotnk (also known as "Big Bertha") right in the face and now she's tied up to prevent her getting away. After the gang been asked if they know what happened to Prof. Von Shlimmer's experimental ant farm, that's Knuckles' cue to take his leave.
